About me
Matt Blumberg is a multi-time founder and CEO of technology businesses over the last 30 years, including the MovieFone.com division of 777-FILM (acquired by AOL), Return Path (#2 on Fortune Magazine’s “Best Companies to Work for” list and later acquired by PSG/Validity), the nonprofit Path Forward, and Bolster, his newest company.
Matt is also the author of 3 books: Startup CEO: A field guide to scaling up your business (based on his popular blog on entrepreneurship, StartupCEO.com), Startup CXO: A field guide to scaling up your company’s critical functions and teams, and Startup Boards: A Field Guide to Building and Leading an Effective Board of Directors, all published by Wiley & Sons. He also hosts a new podcast for CEOs and CXOs called The Daily Bolster.
Matt has read over 150 biographies of US Presidents over the years, at least two for each, echoing a pattern he started as a young child devouring every book in the the Meet The Presidents series of the 1970s. His love of American History was fostered by his high school history/politics teacher David Ramert. The Country Over Self podcast is a passion project years in the making. Matt gives much credit to his wife Mariquita, his kids Casey, Wilson, and Elyse, his friends Paul, Eileen, and Neal, his two first guests, Noah and Gary, and a number of other friends (Raj, Stefanie, Evan, Ted, Andrea, Marshall) who helped recruit other guests, for helping bring this project to life.
When he's not working, you can find Matt coaching baseball, volunteering to pack meals with his family as part of the Million Meal Project, rucking, playing very mediocre golf, or, of course, reading the biography of a US President, shown here in pez dispenser form with no disrespect intended to the most recent two presidents, for whom there is not yet a collectible.
